Capitol Communications, LLC. (Capitol) is an integrated communications design and production firm that strives to help clients solve their information needs through the appropriate application of media or print resources. We have served clients in business, industry, and government for over 40 years from our offices in Crofton, Maryland, just outside the Washington beltway. The Capitol staff is broad-based and multi-disciplinary. It is divided into three divisions: Type, Graphics and Video media.
We understand type. Typography and typesetting have become a dying art, as instant digital communication lowers the bar on what is acceptable. Remember hot metal type, and photochemical production systems like Compugraphic and Penta? We do. Now we use an array of digital tools to have maximum control over letterforms, spacing and layout.
Academic journals and books are our specialty. We can match type from an existing design, even from out-of-print or antique books; we routinely handle foreign languages and 
alternate alphabets like Greek, Hebrew and Cyrillic, even ancient written languages. Special spacing requirements for mathematical formulas or poetry are no problem.
In addition to producing pages for books and journals, we also make documents that are longer or need special attention, like directories and conference programs. These projects require long commitment times and extra care to produce, coordinated carefully with annual surveys and constantly updated databases of information. Capitol can work hand-in-hand with your staff, or process all the information in house for you.
The Graphics division of Capitol makes creative new designs for book covers, magazine articles, ads, newsletters or for web or video use. Depending on your project, we can help you design the size, paper, folds, inks, or die cuts for what printing method you will use.
Photographs receive special attention at Capitol. Each photo is examined for color balance, correcting for muddy dark shadows and overexposed highlights, as well as sensitive areas like faces and figures for natural skin tones. We are expert at retouching and photo manipulation to remove unwanted elements, or to add elements and make them look natural for missing or damaged sections.
Our own in-house illustration department creates images in a variety of styles, for editorial, technical, medical, 
and cartoon or educational usage. From your raw data or Powerpoint/Excel files, we can produce infographics like flowcharts, tables, or graphs to ensure your communication is the most effective it can be. We can work with you to art-direct a project, whether it's one book or a support package for a conference meeting complete with brochures, programs, worksheets, signage, stickers and e-book or web versions. Forge a recognizable identity through a coordinated logo design, typeface, and color scheme on all your materials.
Capitol Communications has been making training materials for associations and government agencies since 1968. We started out producing video programs and slide shows, and quickly added printed booklets and support materials to make the programs more effective. Today, we can still provide video services for educational and training use, professional documentary-style videos, hosted presentations, classroom lectures, on-location interviews, skits and vignettes, on-screen graphics and Flash animation.
We can record your annual meeting or your top training seminar and edit it into a useable presentation on DVD. For a menu-driven DVD, we can customize the navigation pages and features with extras, interactive links and attached files. Bring us your training topic, and Capitol will handle the research, scripting, and storyboarding to plan the program. After shooting the footage, Capitol will handle the editing, graphics, narration, and music to your satisfaction.
